Ontario March of Dimes

March of Dimes Canada is a Home & Vehicle Modification Program that provides funding for basic home and/or vehicle modifications. Their missions is to maximize the independence, personal empowerment, and community participation of people with physical disabilities

Their programs are intended to assist permanent Ontario residents with a sustainable impairment expected to last one year or more, with their disability management.

Participation House

The Participation House is a non-profit community based organization is committed to encouraging and creating an inclusive community where their clients have access to all the community has to offer and are included in a valued and meaningful way. They provide assistance to people with significant physical and/or developmental disabilities to reach their full potential, live in their own homes, participate in the community, and enjoy life with family and friends. The Participation House provides an alternative to institutional care. They provide 2-4 adults homes, home-based supports, and day and recreational programs.

St. Joseph’s Hospice

St. Joseph’s Hospice is an end-of-life care facility with a commitment to provide exemplary hospice palliative care. They offer a haven where those living with a terminal illness, their caregivers, family members, and the bereaved experience compassion, hope, and healing. St. Joseph’s has a dedicated and compassionate team of registered nurses, registered practical nurses, personal support workers, spiritual care providers, physicians, and volunteers.There is no cost to the individual and/or the family to stay in the residence or to access any of the supportive services.

Housing Access Centre

The Housing Access Centre (HAC) provides information, takes applications, and maintains the waitlist on behalf of the housing providers for social housing in the City of London and Middlesex County for housing such as:

  • Rent-Geared-to-Income Housing

  • Private Non-Profit Housing

  • Federal Non-Profit Housing

  • Co-Operative Housing

  • Rent Supplements/Subsidized Programs

HAC administers and maintains the centralized waitlist on behalf of the housing providers. The housing providers continue to be fully responsible for their own tenant/member selection.

Acceptance to housing is need based and waiting lists are long. Units are available for families, seniors, physically and developmentally challenged, low-income earners, sole-support parents, and individuals discharged from psychiatric care.

Under certain circumstances, you may qualify for Special Priority Status or Urgent Status.

Centre of Hope - The Housing Stability Bank

The Housing Stability Support Bank offers financial assistance to low-income community members to obtain or retain their housing and offers financial assistance to those at risk of homelessness to remain housed. They provide interest free loans to assist with Rental Arrears, first month’s rent (ODSP recipients only) and/or last month’s rent. Occasionally, they offer short-term grant money to use instead of loans. However, they tend to be depleted very quickly.

They also assist with the completion of Ontario Electricity Support Program applications. Applications are completed by appointment only, please contact The Housing Stability Bank for an appointment at one of the 9 locations throughout London.

The Ontario Electricity Support Program provides monthly on-bill credits for lower-income customers to help reduce their electricity bills. If you heat with electricity or use electronically-powered medical devices, you may receive higher credits.
