City of London - London Animal Shelter Services

The London Animal Shelter Services is a designated Spay/Neuter facility aimed at controlling the growing pet population in London. This facility does not offer ongoing care.

Their Spay/Neuter Subsidy Program offers surgery at a reduced rate to qualified individuals and includes spay/neuter, rabies vaccine, flea treatment, microchip, pain medication and nail trim. They also offer a TNR (Trap-Neuter-Return) Program for feral cats living outdoors within the City.

East Village Animal Hospital

The East Village Animal Hospital is dedicated to providing comprehensive preventative medicine services, including spay/neuter/vaccination/micro-chipping/anti-parasite treatments, as well as general out-patient medical & surgical services for pets cared for by low-income individuals, and for those on social assistance, animal rescue groups, humane societies and municipal shelters.

Proof of government assistance or a copy of CRA Notice of Assessment/Re-Assessment for each adult household resident (except students under the age of 25) must be presented at your first appointment.

Farley Foundation

The Farley Foundation assists those who are struggling financially to pay for veterinary care for their pets. They subsidize costs of non-elective veterinary services such as surgery, some dental procedures, and hospitalization. Talk to your veterinarian about the availability of Farley Foundation Funding.

No Empty Bowls Pet Food Bank

No Empty Bowls Pet Food Banks has been helping pet owners feed and keep their pets during difficult times since 2013. Their services are free, please contact them if you are on ODSP, pension, or unemployed. They will strive to help you. In addition to pet food, they also take donations of gently used pet equipment such as bowls, leashes, collars, and cages.

They have 9 pick-up locations across London. Please call ahead of time to make sure the location has pet food available.

PAWS (Progressive Animal Welfare Services)

PAWS subsidizes the costs of veterinary care for animals that would otherwise have to be surrendered or euthanized for financial reasons. If you meet the requirements, PAWS also can cover vet costs of vaccinations, spays & neuters, blood tests and diagnostics, treatment for infections, injuries, blockages, minor surgery or any other veterinarian-recommended treatments.
