LIFE*SPIN’s Annual Seniors Fair

LIFE*SPIN held an opportunity for our older adult clients at LIFESPIN to participate in our 2025 LIFESPIN Seniors Fair! It is a grand event with many supports in our community participating. Great information and door prizes! Later in the month, our LIFE*SPIN Advocate, Nicole, held a workshop about Senior Pensions and Finance Supports.

General Resources

  • City of London offers a range of activities for Older Adults. This website also offers a variety of additional Older Adult Living information, including their Kiwanis Seniors Centre and The Age Friendly Network.

    The Age Friendly London Network is a community-based network with the vision of a diverse, vibrant, caring, and healthy community, that empowers all individuals to age well and have opportunities to achieve their full potential. They offer a wide variety of services, including finding employment and volunteer opportunities.The Age Friendly Network Page

  • Helping seniors and people with disabilities stay independent, active, and socially connected. They are also helping seniors stay safe and making Ontario more accessible for everyone and promoting the benefits of age-diverse, accessible workplaces and communities where everyone is able to participate.

  • Health Buddy is a service where a volunteer will accompany you to your doctor's appointments and take notes for you. This allows you to be in the moment with your doctor to listen and ask questions without having to worry about jotting down the key points for later.

  • The Canadian Cancer Society has a wealth of information available to you. Their website displays information about diagnosis, how to get help, information for when you need help with travel and transportation and, if you are outside London, they can also help you with temporary residence.

  • Wellspring is a volunteer organization in the Y.M.C.A. in London. They offer support (one-on-one or in groups) in a warm and caring environment for individuals and caregivers living with Cancer.

    You can also sign up for free massages, yoga, Thai Chi, or Art Therapy. They also have a small library, where you can read about your diagnosis. Whatever your needs are, Wellspring is a good first step to take if you are living with Cancer.

  • The Ontario Association for the Deaf can act on a broad base, andhelp you remove any physical barriers you may be experiencing due to stigmas, or the daily challenges for people living with deafness. The society also offers social events for the hard of hearing individuals, which is a good way to socialize and meet new people alike.

  • The Alzheimer’s Society Southwest Partners offers a wide range of programs to help you, whether for Mild Cognitive Impairment, Dementia, or Alzheimer’s Disease. This organization is here to help you, whether you want some information, or are looking for a diagnosis. The first step is to speak with a representative, and they will help you take the next step. Early diagnosis and intervention are key to slowing down the decline in mental and cognitive functions.

    The Consistory Club is a medical equipment and supplies agency that loans out the following items:

    • crutches

    • canes

    • rollators

    • wheelchairs

    • walkers

    • raised toilet seats

    • commodes

    • transfer benches

    • bath items

    There is no cost for this, they loan them out free of charge. No referral is necessary.

  • Co-operative housing corporations offer low rent, the feeling of being a valued member with voting rights, and socialization through a wide variety of activities. Applications are accepted at the address provided on their contact page, or at the City of London.

  • VAC provides help for Veterans looking for housing and other home life supports. The VAC Assistance Service provides free and confidential psychological support that is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. The service is for all Veterans, former RCMP members, their families, and caregivers.1-866-522-2122

  • Meals On Wheels provides freshly made or frozen meals to seniors and adults living with disabilities who are in need of nutritional support. Subsidies are available. Apply online through their website. You can also apply on the phone or in person.

  • March of Dimes assists with maintaining independence, personal empowerment, and community participation. They have a variety of programs specifically engineered to meet the demands of daily living for physically challenged individuals of all ages. No matter what your physical, developmental, recreational, or transportation needs, March of Dimes is here for you.

  • London Transit services delivers a range of transportation options to meet the needs of adults who have a disability that prevents them from being able to take the regular route of transit services at a regular transportation fee. The services available are: Community Bus, Para Transit, Medical Transportation. Application is required (by phone or online).

  • Wheels for Wellness London provides service to adults 18+ with disabilities, seniors 55+ and/or anyone of any age whose personal care plan needs support. These needs can be short term (caregiver relief, recuperation, seasonal) or long-term assistance. No long-term contract is required. The minimum order on registration is either five daily meals or one package of seven frozen meals.

  • The YMCA offers activities, regardless of your ability or fitness level, for seniors 55+. Please check out their website for a full list of activities available.

Senior Services for Indigenous Residents

  • This is a government website. They are located in London. They offer information about health, social activities, and support services for Indigenous residents in Southwestern Ontario.

  • Over 55 Skills at Work assists seniors by having handymen, gardeners, housekeepers, plumbers and painters to do small jobs that seniors cannot do themselves. Associates have been police checked and carry commercial insurance and are all over 55 years old. They also support and employ over 55 workers and have a program for training and educating mature adults.

  • Snow Angels Canada offers an alternative to the expensive snow removal options available from municipal organizations. Snow Angels is a community-fuelled tool to connect neighbours and individuals to their neighbourhoods.

Ontario Renovates Program

Do you need funding for necessary renovations, additions, or other changes to your home to make it a safer and more comfortable place for you to live?

The Ontario Renovates Program opens for applications in April. This program focuses on providing “crucial financial assistance to low to moderate-income households, focusing on seniors aged 60 or older and individuals with disabilities.”

There is limited funding, which is reviewed and given on a first come-first serve basis.
