Food Security

Food security is an authentically human requirement.

Community Food Box Program - A Great Partnership

Monthly community meals were previously prepared with participants in the LIFE*SPIN Living Room. These meals provided a learning platform for cooking nutritious meals on a meager budget and helped to address the social isolation of poverty.

When COVID-19 threatened the community, we initiated a Community Food Box program. So, in the first year we were able to serve 4,681 individuals in 1,290 families, including 1,968 school-age children and 530 seniors. We also utilized this program to distribute print resources, face masks and hand-sanitizers, following Health Canada recalls of products that low-income residents could not afford to replace.

With the support of On the Move Organics (OTMO) and generous donations, we are able to provide a free box of fresh fruits and vegetables. There is no funding for this program and we are only able to share boxes of food that are donated for our most at-risk families.

We accept orders a bi-monthly basis according to how many boxes have been donated for us to share. The order link below is only open when there are boxes available.

We have numerous clients who are limited by aging or health barriers, who desperately need the support. If you do have the physical ability to shop, please leave these few boxes for those who can't.  You can, however, access other free food resources below at Hunger Relief.
