  • Through Bilingual Online Ontario Breastfeeding Service new and expectant moms have access to expert advice and support for breastfeeding 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, through a telephone advisory service. This free service is provided by Registered Nurses who’ve also received training in breastfeeding and lactation support. For more complex situations, lactation experts will also be available. The service is provided in English and French with 24/7 access to telephone interpreters in more than 100 languages and a direct TTY number for those with hearing and speech difficulties.

  • A free parent resource center that offers education, information, support, and outreach. The drop-in playroom has staff-guided activities, one-on-one discussions, and parenting skills and child development advice. It offers a resource and toy lending library, parent education seminars, and workshops for professionals in their early years.

    Eligibility: Parents and caregivers of newborns, and children up to age 12.

  • There are 11 Family Centers and EarlyON programs throughout London. These programs are free for parents and caregivers, from birth to six years of age. They provide parents with the opportunity to connect and seek advice. Their services include:

    • playgroups with crafts, music and stories

    • programs to introduce children to math, science, and reading

    • pregnancy and new baby support

    • parenting workshops and information on children’s development, behaviour, safety, and nutrition

  • A public access resource centre that provides educational information on safer sex, safer needle use, counselling, and supports. They aim to positively impact the lives of individuals and diverse communities living with, at risk for, or affected by HIV/AIDS and Hepatitis C (HCV). London Health Sciences Pediatric Virtual Urgent Care

If you have a medical issue that is not life threatening, but requires urgent attention, for same-day virtual access to a Nurse Practitioner. Covered by OHIP. No referral is required, but an email is required to access it. Services are available Monday to Friday, 1:00 to 9:00 pm. Same-day virtual access to a Nurse Practitioner. English and interpreter services are available.

HealthZone: Nurse Practitioner-Led Clinic

Diagnosis, management, and treatment of health conditions by nurse practitioners. Also offers counseling and mental health support. Serving people without a family doctor, social worker, or dietician.

Connecting With Other Parents

Connecting with other parents can provide you with support and resources. Finding other parents with children who are the same age can be tricky. Throughout London, there are many free playgroups for ages 0-12. The organizations who run these playgroups have many additional services available to support your needs, as you navigate parenthood.

Many families choose to breastfeed their children. These resources aim to provide you information about breastfeeding and available supports.

This website covers a wide variety of topics for new parents, including breastfeeding. This in-depth information is available at no cost. They also offer telephone support and free confidential services to get health information.

La Leche League Canada (LLLC)

They meet every first Friday of the month. This program is for women breastfeeding/chest feeding, pregnant, and supporters. Learn more about their virtual group meetings & resources (St. Thomas location).

Offers free drop-in support, informational videos, and guides for breastfeeding, as well as information about self-care and breast/chest changes during chest feeding.

Mother Reach

The Mother Reach Support Group is for pregnant and new mothers, who are experiencing depression or anxiety up to the baby’s first birthday. Its members promote a caring community to educate, treat, and support women and their families who are at risk for or are coping with, a perinatal mental health disorder.
